Pathfinder
Hexagram 52 Stability
The model of the moment: You may be drowning in psychic and external noise; inner worries and outer signs of imminent change combining to bring on a sort of mental overload. Spiritual circuit breakers threaten to trip open, resulting in unpredictable consequences for your health and well being. A break from the turmoil would be most welcome now, and aid in sorting things out. The course usually recommended for such times: Refuse to allow your imagination to run away with you, child. Avoid overanalyzing events, or fretting excessively over what the future may bring. For one thing, worrying over factors that are beyond our control is useless to us, and can gain us nothing. For another, such anxiety saps our strength and will for dealing with other things that are within our power to affect; and so we can lose influence on our present while worrying about our future. This means allowing excessive concerns about tomorrow to fester within us can make selffulfilling prophecies of our fears .
Fixed (no changing lines);
This is a plateau process or event; the given model will hold true for an extended period of time. Attempts to manipulate events away from the present course could prove frustrating and fruitless, until destiny is satisfied. Consider the following as well as the above: The future is ever a great unknown, about which no one can enjoy absolute certainty. Especially where details are concerned. Worrying yourself overly much with this fact will only disturb your peace of mind; it won't help in changing matters.
Changing Lines:
1
Stopping all action is no mistake. Plan ahead to avoid errors.
2
The sequence of events your actions have initiated are now out of your control. And proceeding their own way, rather than that you would prefer. Others continue on, despite your warnings. Avoid disaster by not accompanying them.
3
You were warned but took no heed. Now you face danger. Do not remain, but calmly retreat, if possible.
4
To avoid error, be still, and contemplate all the possibilities in the current situation.
5
Be silent now. This will strengthen your words later, and protect you from grief in the present.
6
Remaining still has filled you with inner peace, and you yearn to continue on your way. But wait. The time to stir again to action is not yet here.
When all lines are changing;
Though we are quite capable of lengthy and energetic campaigns of action, we require occasional periods of rest and relaxation too. Stillness, silence, and solitude can relieve us of the stresses of daily living like nothing else. Without such breaks, we can lose our balance mentally and physically, falling prey to all manner of ills. In our increasingly stressful society, times of quiet solitude are more important than ever for refreshing our mind and body.
