Hexagram 05 Suspension
The model of the moment: You could be caught up in the games of others now, your goals entangled in conflict. Or you might be awaiting a decision in regards to your future welfare. The course usually recommended for such times: Anxiety will not help matters, but only make them worse. Maintain a cheerful attitude, but otherwise refrain from acting directly upon the process or event that concerns you, child. However, do not waste your time in idleness. Do what you can to prepare for the changes that lie beyond this period of waiting. The circumstances surrounding you will not last indefinitely.
Fixed (no changing lines);
This is a plateau process or event; the given model will hold true for an extended period of time. Attempts to manipulate events away from the present course could prove frustrating and fruitless, until destiny is satisfied. Consider the following as well as the above: Your present goal may be unattainable. Not because of any inherent difficulty in the goal itself, but rather your own misunderstanding and incompetence in regards to it. The situation will only improve if you succeed in becoming more than you are at present.
Changing Lines:
1
You yearn for taking major action, but the time is not ripe. Remain patient and build your strength. The time to use it will come.
2
Discord and unrest afflict you and yours. Remaining calm will prevent mistakes.
3
Move cautiously, planning each step. Danger is near and you are without protection. Remember that though some doubt is necessary, too much can cripple you. Seek a balance of caution and faith; a cautious confidence that you will prevail.
4
Extreme danger here. Uncertainty grips you tightly. Avoid aggressive action. Pursue only your original goals and destiny will lead you away from danger. Do not despair. This time will pass.
5
Inner peace, patience, and a relaxed attitude can bring good fortune even in the midst of danger. Taking a break from our normal patterns is an essential part of enjoying life to the fullest. Occasionally denying our palate the taste of routine pleasures can be refreshing. For example, fasting can renew for us the joy to be found in even the simplest of meals. Traveling can enhance our appreciation for the comforts of home.
6
Disaster. There is no longer a reason to wait. Conflict. Meeting your fear head on brings you unexpected help. Accept the aid that appears, for long term benefit.
When all lines are changing;
There is a time for patience and a time for action. But an exercise in patience need not be an idle time. Prepare for the day your waiting ends.
