Hexagram 27 Growth
The model of the moment: We are each responsible for our own welfare, to a great degree. Not only in physical sustenance, but spiritual as well. Lusting after what we believe others have leads us nowhere. The course usually recommended for such times: Our nourishment depends on our own attitudes and actions, not those of others. Only proper desires will nourish us in a way that satisfies, while envy and jealousy will cause us, and perhaps others, only harm.
Fixed (no changing lines);
This is a plateau process or event; the given model will hold true for an extended period of time. Attempts to manipulate events away from the present course could prove frustrating and fruitless, until destiny is satisfied. Consider the following as well as the above: You are what you eat. You are what you learn. You are what you experience. To change yourself, change these things. If you are happy, do not change them. For better or worse, these are the sources of your sustenance. They are the recipe for who you are now.
Changing Lines:
1
You discover within yourself jealousy towards another, despite the fact that your own sustenance is well provided for. This condition makes your low self esteem apparent even to others, and will invite misfortune.
2
Overindulgence, which brings on sickness, can be done spiritually as well as physically. You seek help from sources unsuitable to your position and needs; this brings on misfortune if continued.
3
You made a bad choice in an association with another, and now it is hobbling every step you take. This state will continue for some time. Criticisms from others have paralyzed you. This could not be if you had properly maintained your physical and mental health.
4
All of us at one time or another harbor an unjustifiable desire for the benefits another enjoys. It is a natural aspect of our being. Such a desire cannot be allowed to manifest itself in our behavior, however; for this would threaten not only the target of our envy, but we ourselves as well. By expanding our knowledge of ourselves and others, we can overcome such feelings through awareness of the pains and weaknesses we all share.
5
Do not undertake great tasks at this time, for you are still too weakened to do so with success. It may be that you have sustained injuries, either physical or psychological. Examine yourself closely to understand where your weaknesses lie, and seek help from a superior in dealing with them. This will enable you to make faster progress.
6
You must understand that taking responsibility for another's development is a serious and risky task. Fortunately, you are competent to undertake such duties, should you choose to do so.
When all lines are changing;
GIGO ( Garbage in, Garbage Out ) is an old computer term. It applies well towards what can happen in one's own life. If you surround yourself with inferior influences, and ingest bad food and drink, you can expect to be drawn into bad circumstances and poor health.
